Three Labor Day Protests in Las Vegas
On Labor Day, a sweeping wave of activism enveloped the nation. Across all 50 states, nearly 1,000 protests and events were held under the banner “Workers Over Billionaires,” a grassroots effort to push back against federal policies perceived as favoring the ultra-wealthy. Below are three protests held in Las Vegas. The videos are available on Substack.

VIDEO & PODCAST: On Monday, September 1, 2025, the Culinary Union (UNITE HERE Local 226) led a powerful Workers’ Labor Day Rally at the Sphere, where approximately 700 workers, engaged in first-time union contract negotiations, assembled to make their voices heard.
The rally wasn’t limited to Culinary alone, it included solidarity from a broad coalition of labor organizations:
- Bartenders Union Local 165
- Nevada AFL‑CIO
- Southern Nevada Building Trades
- Teamsters Local 631
- And additional local unions and residents gathered in support
The rally marked a dual purpose: on one hand, it celebrated the 90th anniversary of the Culinary Union’s long legacy of advocacy for working families in Nevada; on the other, it reinforced the immediate demand for fair wages, strong worker protections, and the right to organize—particularly in an economic climate where costs of living are soaring and anti-worker policies are mounting.
This was the third rally held on Monday in the Las Vegas area. Links to the others are below. The next major protests planned nationwide is scheduled for October 18th.

Though much of the national focus centered on cities like Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles, Houston, and Washington, D.C., labor solidarity echoed across smaller states and communities; Las Vegas had three protests.

As Mayday Strong, one of the groups behind the collective demonstrations, stated on their website, “Just like any bad boss, the way we stop the takeover is with collective action.”
