Protest Voices From The Front

On Saturday, August 16, 2025, a wave of protests swept across the United States in a coordinated national day of action under the banner “Fight the Trump Takeover.” Organizers reported over 150 rallies across 34 states. Activists rallied against the Trump administration’s dual policies: a controversial mid‑decade redistricting push led by Republican lawmakers, and the federal takeover of policing in Washington, D.C. Protesters demanded the defense of democratic institutions and local control.
In Las Vegas, Nevada, about one hundred protesters met in front of the Fountains of Bellagio despite 104-degree heat. Several of the protesters shared with Citizen Ben why they came. The issues ranged from Immigration and Healthcare to Veterans and LGBTQ+. Here are some of their voices…

“Fight the Trump Takeover” was not just a slogan, it was a movement. Across states and municipalities, ordinary citizens stepped into public spaces to voice profound concerns about the future of American democracy, governance, and civil liberties.
